π¨π³ Currently, the Chinese government holds more Bitcoins in its wallets than the United States has in its accounts.
The thing is, the U.S. government has only about 112,000 BTC or possibly even less, since 95,000 BTC are owned by the crypto exchange Bitfinex and are meant to be returned to the victims of fraud.
Meanwhile, China has currently seized 194,000 Bitcoins.
Samson Mow commented:
"Many on Twitter are discussing the 'uselessness' of creating a Bitcoin reserve in the U.S., since it's just confiscated assets that no one is buying."
He added:
"Purchases are planned. There are several 'budget-friendly' ways to acquire Bitcoin (without burdening taxpayers), such as issuing BTC bonds or selling gold. It just takes a little time."
